It's been one wild ride this week! Full moon. Winter Storm Pax. Amityville Horror special effects in my house after a tree limb crashed into a street light which caused a little grass fire one house down. Power lost for nineteen hours in freezing temperatures. Snapping branches that sounded like gunshots. Seven power trucks and a WLTX news crew giving a live report in front of my house (the night footage--those tree limbs were our neighbors). And a 4.1 earthquake — a stiff, short jolt that rocked the house.
The worst thing that happened was when the dogwood branch snapped and crashed onto to the brick walkway. The house shook more from that than the earthquake. Why was I so sad? Look at the lovely pictures I posted Wednesday morning. The birds perched in the ice-glazed branches look so beautiful.

The limb where the birds happily rested is now sitting on my curbside. Waiting for trash pick-up. I can never take such gorgeous pictures again. NEVER!
The birds are so resilient. Thursday morning they were back. Hanging out on their beloved branch. Saying their last good-bye.

A friend suggested I write haiku for the branch. Being a math geek, I opted for a Fibonacci cinquain. A cinquain is a poem with five lines. (Cinco means five in Spanish.) Mine is a free-form Fibonacci cinquain: five lines with as many Fibonacci numbers as I can pack into it. Many elements of this cinquain involve my favorite number sequence, and I'm not going to tell you what they are. I don't want to spoil the fun.
